Madame Butterfly's story is a sad but poignant one. A Japanese woman meets a Portugese sailor and they fall in love, they get married and have a child. The sailor must return to Europe, and when he eventually returns he comes back with a European wife. This breaks poor Butterfly's heart, and in her sadness she ends her life. Leaving her son behind alone. This piece focuses on her final moments.
